BLOGROLL: what I like on the web.
Here is a list of interesting blogs and websites. I decided to exclude those who only create or post on social media.
- Faunalytics
An amazing organisation that conducts research and shares useful knowledge to support animal rights advocates in their work.
- We, Animals
Photojournalism is a powerful method to share knowledge and uncover hidden realities and inequalities. While most of us know war photojournalism, not many people know about another important photojournalism branch: animal photojournalism. If you want to gain an insight into the lives of non-human animals, have a look at their database.
- Finding nature
An interesting blog by researcher Prof. Miles Richardson on his work on nature connectedness. Yay for researchers taking the time to share bits of knowledge on a blog!
- Seth Ariel Green blog
Seth is a researcher working in the sustainable food field. He specialises in meat reduction, worked in tech and has an interesting personal blog.
- Low Tech Magazine
An excellent collection of articles and resources on low tech alternatives. Their website is powered by solar panels and, although I don't agree on some of the owner's stances, I find this project very inspiring!
- Jaron Lanier website
I appreciated his book and public speaking about the dangers of social media. Plus, his official website looks even worse than mine :)
- A Wyrd Of Her Own
An excellent writer, poet, photographer and creative hailing from the cold, grey yet fascinating north of England.
- True traditional Italian vegan recipes
If you like Italian food and would like to cook traditional dishes like lasagna without a side of animal exploitation, then head over this blog (the recipes are in Italian but can be easily translated with a browser translation tool).
- Healthy Italian vegan recipes
Healthy and simple vegan recipes, most of them are Italian. The website is also in Italian but can be translated with a browser translation tool.
- Erbaviola
Blogging about sustainability, DIY, cats and books since 1999! The blog is in Italian.
- Neocities
This is were I built my website. It has a free plan and a premium one that allows you to add your custom domain. If you miss the pre-social media way of being online, you can find many interesting websites in here!
- Rediscovering the Small Web by Parimal Satyal An amazing essay on how the web has changed and on the "small web" is still alive and kicking!
- The IndieWeb movement
I have been thinking about to rely less on mainstream social media for ages. Little did I know that there was a community working to create an alternative! I share many of the IndieWeb principles, and I like their emphasis on DIYing what you need.
